Marble tumblers: These pieces are made by adding colorant to white clay, layering the different colors, and then allowing the wheel to create marvelous swirl patterns.

NOTE: EACH DESIGN IS A LITTLE DIFFERENT - MESSAGE ME FOR MORE PICTURES - EACH MEASURE 4' TALL OR 3'.

I often call them contemplation cups because you can see different images when you look closely enough. The unglazed exterior allows those colors to show and provides a soft, earthy feel when you hold the cup.

All of the pottery is food and dishwasher-safe and can be placed in the microwave or oven.  When using a piece in the oven, put it in a cold oven and bring it to a temperature to avoid thermal shock.

As you can see, each one is signed at the bottom.

BIO:
Sue Decker, a veteran and retired journalist, has been making pottery for almost 20 years after a group of friends bought her a 10-week class. They told her she loved pottery so much that she should learn how to make it. It was a life-changing gift – she recently retired from the corporate world to become a full-time potter and teacher in Washington, DC.

Pottery, with its long history in every culture, is something that unites us all:  To hold a bowl or mug in your hand and know a person, not a machine, made it. To feel that connection with your ancestors. All of those feelings in something so prosaic are just magical. Sue’s goal is to bring that joy to others and to add a bit of brightness to the world. She focuses on functional pottery and developing designs to highlight fun and colorful glazing.
